What’s New? || Geek News

Merry Tuesday everybody, it has been an interesting couple of days so let’s just jump into it.

Shadowhunters Renewed For Season 2

Freeform has renewed shadowhunters for a second season. The series is based on Cassandra Clare’s The Mortal Instruments book series and is a welcome relief for fans of the book who hated the poor attempt to turn it into a movie. Starring Harry Shum Jr., Matthew Daddario and Emeraude Toubia, the show is Freeform’s second best – in terms of ratings – behind Pretty Little Liars. It’s on Netflix so if you haven’t heard about it or seen it, give it a watch.

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt Season 2 Trailer

In more Netflix news, the trailer for Season 2 of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt hit the internet yesterday and it looks brilliant. The comedy series follows the titular Kimmy as she adjusts to life after being locked in a bunker. The trailer looks like everything we’ve come to expect and love about the show: it’s light, sweet and funny. However, I did notice that Kimmy’s love interest from last season – Dong – was mysteriously absent in this trailer.

Comic-Con Streaming Service Announced

Are you tired of sitting at home and seeing all of the highlights from San Diego Comic-Con hours later? Well, this is marginally better. Lionsgate and SDCC have come together to create a subscription streaming service called Comic-Con HQ where you can access all the comic-con content you can’t be present for. Sadly we don’t know much about it except that it will launch on the 7th of May this year. Will it be available internationally? God, I hope so.

Neil Patrick Harris To Star In A Series Of Unfortunate Events

Netflix really is the knight in shining armour for books turned into bad movies: they are creating a series based on the Lemony Snicket books, A Series Of Unfortunate Events. Patrick Warburton is signed to play Snicket (the fictional narrator) whilst Neil Patrick Harris has been cast as Count Olaf. There has been a lot of criticism of Harris’ casting but I for one can think of nobody better to bring the character to life.

Batman v Superman International Extended Spot

I’m getting very tired of seeing Baman v Superman footage although I think that the ‘final’ trailer that they released was the best so far. Yesterday, an international extended spot surfaced filled to the brim with fire power and action. Honestly, I’m bored of it but I will say that listening to the Korean narrator totally enhances the experience.

That’s all today but there’s so much content coming your way this week – keep an eye out. Until the next time:

What happened to Dong? Do you like Neil Patrick Harris’ casting as Count Olaf? How many Batman v Superman teasers can they release before its release in ten days? Let me know in the comments.
