Happy Tuesday all, it’s only been two days but we already have so much to catch up on so let’s just jump right in.
Jungle Book Box Office
This may be the last time that I get to talk about The Jungle Book for months (before I get to start shoving all the information I can find about the sequel down your throats) so allow me this – unsurprisingly, Disney’s latest film, The Jungle Book, has had an amazing opening weekend and actual beat its predicted US box office of $136.1 million. Worldwide, it made upwards of $300 million.
Now You See Me 3
Now You See Me 2 isn’t out until June 10 but the studio clearly has a lot of faith in it as they’re already planning the third film. Jon M. Chu, the director of the second film has now been confirmed as director for the third installment which has come out of nowhere. Now You See Me was a great movie so let’s just hope the second one can live up to that or that third one may just disappear very quickly.
Jared Leto Met With Killers
I don’t really have any expectations of Suicide Squad but I keep hearing about how good Jared Leto’s Joker is and based on his dedication to the role, I can’t argue. To really get to grips with his character, Leto met with “people who had committed horrendous crimes”. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Leto said:
“I did meet with people that were experts, doctors, psychiatrists that dealt with psychopaths and people who had committed horrendous crimes, and then I spent some time with those people themselves, people who have been institutionalised for great periods of time.”
That’s it today but as always, I’ll be back with more news on Thursday but until then:
Have you seen The Jungle Book yet? Are they jumping the gun a bit with Now You See Me 3? Do you think Jared Leto’s Joker will stand up against Heath Ledger’s? Let me know in the comments.
