What’s New? || Geek News

Happy Saturday, I hope that you’re a trekky because we’ve got quite a bit of Star Trek news this morning.

Star Trek Teaser

This week all of the TV networks have been doing their Upfronts which basically means that we get to see lots of cool stuff. Top of that list is the teaser for the upcoming Star Trek TV series. They’re promising: new crews, new villains, new heroes, new worlds and they reveal their gorgeous new logo. Check it out below:

New Star Trek Trailer

From the TV series to the film (Star Trek turns 50 this year – there’s a lot of it around). The second official trailer for Star Trek: Beyond was released a few hours ago and in my very biased opinion it is amazing. I’m always going to be excited when I see anything to do with the Star Trek movies but this one seems to be trying for some heavier themes and we watch as Kirk tries to figure out who he is. You can watch that trailer right here:

Thor: Ragnarok Casting

Karl Urban (who just so happens to play Bones in Star Trek – there’s no getting away from it!) and Jeff Goldblum have been cast in Marvel’s Thor: Ragnarok. Urban will be playing Skurge and Goldblum will be playing Grandmaster. Filming will begin this year and in the UK the film will be hitting screens October 27th of next year (a week ahead of the US release date).

Captain America Hits $1 Billion

Captain America: Civil War has become the 25th film to pass the $1 billion mark in worldwide sales. Whilst this isn’t exactly surprising, it is deserved. Captain America: Civil War is potentially the best film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and was worth every penny people spent seeing it.

X-Men: Apocalypse Teaser Is Ad For Xavier’s School

Even if I have mixed feelings about the film, I cannot fault its marketing techniques. This week the X-Men: Apocalypse film released a wonderfully 80’s advert for Xavier’s School fot Gifted Youngsters. Check it out:

That’s all today but if you want more then come back tomorrow morning for a full round-up of this week’s news. Until then:

Are you more excited for the Star Trek movie or the film? Have you seen Captain America: Civil War? Will you be calling up to join Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters? Let me know in the comments.
