Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 || Trailer Review

I watched this trailer twice before I realised that I have no idea what this movie is about but I don’t even care. I mean, there’s a baby groot – it doesn’t get more adorable than that.

With that said I think that it’s pretty safe to assume that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is going to involve the team saving the galaxy in some way or another. The first film was an underdog because it was so very out there and when it turned out to be amazing, it was a shock to most people. This one has a lot more pressure on it.

Whilst the trailer doesn’t say much about the plot of the movie, it promises that this film will be at least as funny as the last and twice as cute (thanks to one baby groot). Hopefully it also has a great story that isn’t just there to pull the Guardians closer to the rest of the MCU in preparation for the next Avengers movie.

How many times have you watched the trailer? What did you think? Let me know in the comments.

What’s New? || Geek News

Happy Thursday people, I really hope you like superheroes because today that’s all I’ve got for you: lots and lots of superheroes.

Guardians of the Galaxy Set Photos

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is due to be released in April of 2017 but just because there’s more than a year before it comes out doesn’t mean you can’t start to get excited. Zoe Saldana took to Facebook and shared a couple of behind-the-scenes pictures of the set, including herself in her full Gamora costume.

Supergirl’s Views Spike This Week

This week’s episode of Supergirl saw The Flash visiting National City. This was  amazing, not only because everybody wanted to see these characters together, but also because this crossover took place across television networks. The show reached a seven-week high in its ratings, jumping up 21% in total viewers.

Batman v Superman Deleted Scene

Yes, the film is still in cinemas. Yes, they’re already releasing deleted scenes. I don’t know why but my inner nerd is saying I should shut up and just appreciate it. The clip shows Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor meeting a strange and definitely alien figure who I’m currently thinking is Darkseid. Maybe we’ll be seeing Darkseid in later DCEU films.

Fox Delays Gambit Movie

Does that headline seem familiar? That’s probably because it keeps happening. I’ve all but given up hope for Gambit – I feel like they’re just going to keep moving it back in the schedule until it’s just no longer there. This time around, Fox are delaying as the script undergoes rewrites. If we ever get a Gambit movie I just have to hope that all of this extra time means that it’ll better than Fox’s Fantastic Four flop.

That’s it today but until I’ll be back with more news on Saturday (yeah, there’s news on a Saturday now – I’m shaking things up a bit). Until then:

Did you watch this week’s Supergirl? Are you excited to see Darkseid in future DC films? Will Gambit ever see the big screen? Let me know in the comments.

What’s New? || Geek News

Happy Thursday people, from trailers on Tuesday to castings today: I’ve got some interesting casting news for upcoming films.

Agents of Shield Casts Natalia Cordova-Buckley

If you’ve been following Agents of Shield then you know all about the new Inhuman plotline. It’s now been revealed that Natalia Cordova-Buckley will be joining the cast when it returns next month. She’ll be playing a “streetwise” Colombian with Inhuman abilities – as she’s based on Slingshot (from the comics) I’m thinking that she’s going to have super-speed.

Julianne Moore In Talks For Kingsman 2 Villain

2014’s Kingsman: The Secret Service is getting a sequel and its villain could be none other than Julianne Moore. I don’t know how I feel about this: I think she was great as President Coin in The hunger Games: Mockingjay but comic-book films require a different calibre of villain. Is she up for it? I’m not convinced.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Cast Announced

The sequel to Marvel’s unexpected hit, Guardians of the Galaxy has begun filming and there is finally an official cast list. The main team is returning: Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper & Dave Bautista. Also returning are Karen Gillan, Michael Rooker, Glenn Close & Sean Gunn. Now, the new people that you can expect to see: Kurt Russell, Pom Klementieff, Elizabeth Debicki & Chris Sullivan.

What’s New? || Geek News

Happy Thursday people, I am very excited about the last couple of days so let’s just get into it:

Ghostbusters Set Photos With Chris Hemsworth

Chris Hemsworth in his first character photo for the 'Ghostbusters' reboot on Feb. 3, 2016Hemsworth was cast as the male receptionist to our lady Ghostbusters, but this week set photos were released which show the man sporting a vest and glasses combination. Is it weird that geek-Hemsworth is infinitely more attractive than god-Hemsworth? Anyway… images of the main four actresses were also released and they look great. I can’t wait for this movie (I’m not going to pretend that Hemsworth isn’t a massive part of that).

Fast & Furious Has Release Dates For It’s Next 3 Films

Vin Diesel posted to instagram a photo revealing previously unknown dates for Fast & Furious 9 and 10. I really thought that the franchise was over after the death of Paul Walker but I’m happy that it’s not. What was essentially a B-movie showcasing cars and boobs has become this huge cultural thing about the importance of love and family – hell, it even makes me want to talk to my family. For like a second (I kid, my family are… great).

Elizabeth Banks Cast In Power Rangers Movie

Anybody else obsessed with Power Rangers when they were little? I had a yellow ranger action figure that I carried everywhere. Elizabeth Banks has been cast in the upcoming Power Rangers movie as the villain, Rita Repulsa. Some are upset that a white woman has been cast in the role when the character was played by an Asian woman in the original series. This is, of course, a valid complaint but I really like Elizabeth Banks and she’s perfect for this role.

Steve Agee Cast In Guardians Of The Galaxy 2

I don’t know who Steve Agee is. Looking at his filmography, I’ve definitely seen things that he’s been in: New Girl, Community, 2 Broke Girls but I don’t recognise the man. Still, he’s been cast in the Guardians Of The Galaxy sequel and whilst I have nothing good to say about him, I also have nothing bad to say about him which is a pretty accurate description of how I felt about Guardians Of The Galaxy before it came out and that turned out to be one of the best Marvel films to date.

Flash In Supergirl!

That headline came off slightly dirtier than intended but you get the idea – I hope. Grant Gustin, a.k.a. The Flash will be heading over to National City to appear in Supergirl on March 28. Massive fist-pump moment. It was uncertain whether or not Supergirl was going to be a part of the Arrowverse what with it being on an entirely different network and all but it’s happening. They’re both so frikking cute and smiley, this episode is going to be adorable. Hopefully, they’ll also kick ass.

That’s it for now, more geek news on Sunday but if you made it all the way to the bottom then let me know:

Should Rita Repulsa have been cast as an Asian woman? Is geeky Chris Hemsworth the best thing that you’ve ever seen? How do you think The Flash and Supergirl are going to mix? Let me know in the comments.
